Betty J. Bells
PORT ALLEGANY- Betty J. Bells, 88, formerly of Arnold Ave. and Roulette, passed away Tuesday (July 17, 2018) in Cross Keys Village-Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA.
Born September 20, 1929, in Otto Township, PA, she was a daughter of Frank and Grace Toombs Bertron. On Nov. 8, 1947, in Burtville, PA, she married Edward L. Bells, who died Nov. 4, 1976.
Betty was a lifetime resident of the area and attended Roulette High School.
She was a member and treasurer for 18 years with the First Baptist Church, Roulette. Betty volunteered with the Charles Cole Hospital, Coudersport, and was Roulette Township tax collector for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Steve L. (Nancy) Bells of Roulette, and John H. Bells of Shinglehouse; two daughters, Linda M. (Robert) Adams of New Oxford, PA, and Marcia K. (James) Campbell of Mulberry, FL; 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 4 great-granddaughters, and 4 great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, two brothers, Francis A. and Donald E. Bertron; and three sisters, Ruth Dutton McCumber, Ethel Gross and Arvilla Denning.
Friends will be received from 10 -11 a.m. Saturday (July 21. 2018) in the First Baptist Church, Roulette, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Marty Montgomery, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
