Carmine P. CEGLIA

March 7, 1944 — January 29, 2022

Carmine P. CEGLIA, 77, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Wellsville, died Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Highland Hospital, Rochester after battling Covid-19 for several weeks.

Born March 7, 1944, he was the son of Paul and Helen Megna Ceglia and stepson of Beatrice Ceglia, née Megna.  He was married to Vera Keaveney, who predeceased him on September 23, 2021.  As lifelong entrepreneurs, Carmine and Vera owned several businesses in the Wellsville area including The Hair Loft, Video Connection, and C-Bay Consignment Auctions.  However, there was no job more important to them than caring for their grandchildren, and they are fondly remembered as doting grandparents.  Carmine and Vera shared a strong Catholic faith throughout their lives. Carmine was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and both were members of Immaculate Conception Church while living in Wellsville.  Carmine’s faith was of great comfort to him following the loss of his wife and the belief that they would be reunited in heaven brought him peace in his final days.

Surviving are:  two sons, Brendan Ceglia of Hornell and Paul (Iasia) Ceglia;  six grandchildren, Brianna (Taras) Bohonok of California, Jessica (Colin) Wilcox of Nunda, Joseffinn Ceglia, Leenan Ceglia of California, Orayan Ceglia, and Aurora Ceglia;  great-grandson, Brendan Jude Wilcox of Nunda;  and sisters, Yolanda (Gene) Snipes of South Carolina and Sally (Sal) Marco of Florida.

A memorial mass for Carmine and Vera will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, February 19, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, Wellsville.  Rev. Robert Agbo will be the Celebrant.

In keeping with their wishes, Carmine and Vera will be laid to rest in Claretuam Cemetery, County Galway, Ireland.  A private service will be held at that time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Highland Hospital of Rochester, Highland Foundation, 1000 South Ave. Rochester, NY 14620, where medical staff provided compassion and extraordinary care to Carmine in his final weeks.

Arrangements are under the direction of OLNEY-FOUST Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.wellsvillefuneralhome.com.
