Dale Andrew JACKSON

March 12, 1926 — April 8, 2012

Dale Andrew JACKSON, 86, of Coudersport, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2012 in his home with his loving family at his side. Born March 12, 1926, in Summit Township, Potter County, PA, he was the son of Merrick Victor and Miriam Joy Reed Jackson. A US Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1946 - 1949. A graduate of Coudersport High School, he earned a bachelor's of science degree from Mansfield University and a master's degree from Penn State. He retired from teaching at Otto Eldred High School in 1987 and was appointed as Potter County Register and Recorder for several years. Mr. Jackson was also a substitute teacher at various local school districts. In his free time, he enjoyed working outdoors, cutting timber, gardening, and attending auctions. Surviving are: his wife of 54 years, Marlyn Jane Hurrle Jackson; five children, Patrick Jackson of Coudersport, Judith (Alan) Lacher of Roulette, PA, Sandra (Michael) Engiles of Stafford, VA, Kathleen (Brian) Rademacher of Beaver, PA, and Victoria (Daniel) Clarke of Warsaw, VA; eight grandchildren; six younger siblings, Greta Jackson, Lois Jackson, Rhea (Charles) Reeves, Donald "Buck" (Carole) Jackson, Marilyn (Robert) Wagner, and Darryl (Judy) Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Coudersport American Legion. A luncheon will follow and a time of visitation until 3:00 PM. The. Rev. M. Thomas Shatto will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Potter County Hospice, c/o Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA 16915 or a charity of the donor's choice.
