David A. BROWNELL

David A. BROWNELL, 73, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Gold, PA and Florida, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the home of his sister in Newfield, PA. Born June 25, 1938, in Ulysses Township, PA, he was the son of Kenneth F. and Jane A. Gibson Brownell. A graduate of Coudersport High School, he was employed as an x-ray technician on pipeline construction. Later he assisted his mother with the operation of Brownell's Store in Gold and served as her caregiver for seven years. He applied for patents for the design of up-righting and overturned catamaran, as well as a phonetic reading system using color. Surviving are: two sisters, Julia Bogacki of Buffalo, NY and Shirley Kay Brownell (Leon) Reed of Ulysses; nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald R. "Frog" Brownell; and his step-father, Claude J. Baker. The family will hold a private service at a later date. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patterson Cancer Center, c/o Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Potter County Historical Society, P.O.
