David W. KALASNIK, 76, of Ulysses, PA, died Saturday, November 29, 2025 in his home. 

Born August 14, 1949, in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of Walter and Ann Zachar Kalasnik. He was married to Nola Empson Jonsson, who survives. A 1966 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Waterbury, CT, he served honorably with the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War from 1966 – 1970. He served on the USS Ticonderoga. 

He was employed by Mass Transit Authorities in Baltimore, MD and Los Angeles, CA. Dave retired from Alstom in Hornell, NY. He was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963, Ulysses and served on the Potter County Honor Guard. Dave was known as “Pops” to his family. 

Surviving besides his wife, Nola, are: four children, Matthew (Sasha) Kalasnik of Palm Coast, FL, Audra (T.J.) Young of Phoenix, AZ, Kyle (Kimberly) Kalasnik of Ulysses, and Tyler (Ann) Kalasnik of Ulster; a daughter-in-law, Kayla Kalasnik of Ulysses; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two siblings, John (Debbie) Kalasnik of Lugoff, SC and Mary (John) DeConti of Mountain City, TN; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Kalasnik. 

A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963, Ulysses, PA on Saturday, December 6, 2025 beginning at 3:00 PM. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gold Church, 2402 S.R. 49W, Ulysses, PA 16948 or Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963, P.O. Box 236, Ulysses, PA 16948.
