Dennis J. CONTRERAS, 76, of Greenwood, NY, formerly of Clearwater Beach, FL, died Friday, September 4, 2026, in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. 

Born November 1, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Edwin L. and Ethel Langguth Contreras. He attended Mark Twain High School in Brooklyn and then joined the US Marine Corps in 1968. Dennis worked for a cleaning company in Florida for many years. 

Surviving are: eight children, Dennis Jr. (Stacie) Contreras of Greenwood, Coreen (John) Fuentes of FL, Coreena Contreras of NJ, Dina Contreras of Scranton, PA, Billy Contreras of NJ, James Contreras of NJ, Denise Kauble of FL, and Stacy Carrier of FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; four siblings, Steven (Rosemary) Contreras of NJ, Joanne Mathias of FL, Maureen (Phil) Safron of FL, and Thomas Contreras of FL; nieces; nephews; and his former wife, Theresa Hudson – Contreras. He was predeceased by his parents; and three siblings, Edwin Contreras Jr., Rosemarie Contreras, and Billy Contreras. 

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2026 in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY. A celebration of life will follow the at Bath Country Club, 330 May Street, Bath, NY 14810. Memorials may be made to any local veteran organization.
