Obituary

Donald A. BENJAMIN, 93, of Belmont, NY, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in his home. 

Born June 29, 1933, in Belmont, he was the son of Leroy E. and Sarah L. Baker Benjamin. He was a 1951 graduate of Belmont Central School and a 1959 graduate of Alfred Agricultural and Technical School. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, he served honorably from 1952 – 1955. On June 29, 1957, in Belmont, he married Barbara Ann Mitchell, who predeceased him in 1990. On October 23, 1993, in Belmont, he married Barbara Ann Bachelder Burdette, who survives. Don worked in marketing and engineering through the years for Cooper-Bessemer, BASCO, Turbodyne, Dominion Iron & Steel, and retired from Dresser-Rand in 1995. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belmont. 

Surviving besides his wife, Barbara, are: a daughter, Kim (James) Benjamin of Belmont; adopted son, Mark Benjamin of Texas; three step-daughters, Beverly Burdette of Columbus, OH, Lori (Wes) Burdette-Steele of Wadsworth, OH, and Linda Burdette of Mt. Vernon, OH; two sisters, Vivian Hills of Horseheads and Janet McMahon in Shortsville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by a son, Steven A. Benjamin; an infant son, John A. Benjamin; and a brother, Dale Benjamin. 

Friends may call at First Baptist Church of Belmont, 9 Willets Ave, Belmont, NY on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont.
