PORT ALLEGANY- Dorothy M. Abbott, 73, formerly of N. Main St., passed away Tuesday (Aug. 29, 2023) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

Born March 18, 1950, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Robert E. and Elizabeth M. McElwee Corah.

Dorothy was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, class of 1968. After high school, she drove school bus for Cox Busing, Port Allegany, and later was employed with Saint-Gobain Container Co., Port Allegany, retiring with 30 plus years of service.

Her hobbies included shopping, going to auctions, playing bingo, and watching Gator sports, especially her granddaughters.

Surviving is a son, Shane L. Abbott of Port Allegany, a daughter, Wendy L. (Adam Felmlee) Abbott of Round Rock, TX; five grandchildren: Shanna (Jeffery) Eckenroad, Shayna (Dillon) Ruediger, Brooke Roys, Brianna Roys, and Trevin Abbott; three great-grand-children, Braxton, Brenna, and Brynlee Eckenroad; two brothers, Robert E. (Sue) Corah of Roulette, Terry L. (Shelly) Corah of Port Allegany; and a sister, Nancy A. (Kirk) Nichols of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Linda L. Corah, and a grandson, Jesse Colt Taylor.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 2, 2023) with Rev. J.T. Madison, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Port Allegany.
