Douglas Foster BARNEY, 49, of Whitesville, NY, died Monday, September 1, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born November 24, 1975, in Wellsville, he was the son of William and Cheryl Hall Barney. He was a 1994 graduate of Whitesville Central School. On November 2, 1996, in Wellsville, he married the love of his life, Kelly J. Walters, who survives.
Doug worked at Air-Preheater until 2004, when he and Kelly started Barney Farms. Doug was an elder at the West Union Mennonite Church. His pride and joy was his John Deere 730 Tractor. There was nothing he loved more than working on the farm with his family, a cup of coffee in his hand and whistling, other than maybe turkey hunting with his best buddy, Josh Kear. Doug was a man of unwavering faith, a strong leader, a gentle spirit, even-tempered, a great advice giver and always a listening ear.
Surviving besides his wife, Kelly, are: his parents, William and Cheryl Barney, who he cherished, as well as his in-laws, Bob and Lois Walters; four children, Tyler (Hannah) Barney, Mikayla (Hunter) Beiler, Katie (Caleb) Renno, and Eli Barney, all of Whitesville; four grandchildren who he adored and was known as poppy to, along with the best blanket rides and rides on his put-put tractor, Lilyanne Beth Beiler, Carolyn Joy Beiler, Emree Jay Barney, and Kipp Foster Renno; two sisters, Karen (Jarret) MacCartney of Barton and Diane (Matthew) Kent of Jasper; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Daniel Manwaring; his uncles, Walter Barney and David Barney; and an infant brother.
