Duane R. Haskins
PORT ALLEGANY- Duane R. Haskins, 82, of Route 155N, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Apr. 20, 2021) in UPMC Cole Health Center, Port Allegany.
Born July 26, 1938, in Port Allegany, he was a son of John R. and Lucinda M. Knapp Haskins. On June 24, 1961, in Port Allegany, he married Mitzi P. Markovs, who survives. They were married 59 years.
Duane was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1957.
He was a veteran, having served with the US Army.
Duane was employed with Saint-Gobain Container Co., Port Allegany, before his retirement.
He was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, American Legion Post 258, Charter & life member of the Canoe Place Fish & Game Club, both of Port Allegany, and former member of the Indian Echo Country Club & Emporium Country Club. He enjoyed salmon fishing with his son-in-law, William, and visiting car shows with his daughter Amanda.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mitzi, are two daughters, Ursula M. (William) Rosenswie of Port Allegany, Amanda L. Haskins of Turtlepoint; two grandchildren, Mary (Noah) Jordan of Eldred, and Andrew Rosenswie of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Peters and Robert E. Haskins; and a sister, Ida J. McQuillen.
There will be no funeral service at Duane’s request.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
