Edith M. "Edie" JAMES, 80, of Ulysses, PA, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.
Born July 30, 1935, in Akron, OH, she was raised by foster parents, Walter and Dolah Brewer.
She was married to Sammy Dale Grizzle, who predeceased her in 1987.
In 1991, she married the Zale L. James, Jr., who survives.
Edie earned a degree in music from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA. She attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Brookland, PA.
Surviving besides her husband, Zale, are: two daughters, Laurel Jean (Michael) Black of Palmyra, PA and Mia A. (Lalu) Narayan of Coudersport; a son, Stephen D. (Beatrice) Grizzle of Middletown, PA; three step-sons, Douglas James of Coudersport, PA, Dean (Susan) James of Danville, PA, and Todd (Diana) James of Lebanon, PA; two step-daughters, Mary Sue (Wilbur) Gray of Middletown, PA and Laurie (Michael) Judd of Harrison Valley, PA; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and feline companion, Peabody. In addition to her first husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Vernon Brewer and Melvin Brewer.
The family will hold a private service at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA. The Rev. Janis Yskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
