Eleanor R. HOWE

Eleanor R. HOWE, 92, of Stannards, NY, died Sunday, July 8, 2018 in her home.
Born March 20, 1926, in Hallsport, she was the daughter of Richard and Alice Scott Billings.
On September 28, 1946, in Wellsville, she married Robert E. Howe, who predeceased her on March 10, 1991.
A 1943 graduate of Wellsville High School, she was employed by Stevens Machine Shop in Wellsville during World War II making parts for airplanes.  After the war, she went to work on the switchboard at Worthington (Dresser-Rand).
Eleanor lived a long a full life, spending many years busy with community organizations, including the Willing Firemen's Auxiliary, Stannards United Methodist Church, and Christian Temple. She and Robert also directed Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.
In later years, they owned and operated Bob's Self Service Gas & Grocery in Alfred Station.
Surviving are:  a daughter, Delora "Dee" Specker of Ithaca;  two grandsons, Eric Specker and Charles Specker, both of Ithaca;  two siblings, Eloise (John) Spicer of Wellsville and Roger (Margaret) Billings of Hallsport;  nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Douglas R. Howe; and a sister, Betty Coats.
Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, NY on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Ralph O. Wagner and Kathie Timpano will co-officiate.  A luncheon will follow the service at Grace United Church.  Burial will be in Hallsport Cemetery.
