Ella Mae HAXTON

Ella Mae Haxton, 9 1 of Wellsville, NY died Friday November 14, 2025 in Wellsville Manor Care Center. 

Born March 10, 1934, in Coudersport, PA, she was the daughter of Richard William and Eva Mae Rogers Smith. On April 21, 1954, she married Lawrence C. Haxton, who predeceased her on November 11, 2006. 

Ella Mae was a homemaker raising her children. She enjoyed crocheting, painting ceramics, her flower beds, and most of all, reading books. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and deep devotion to family and friends. 

Ella Mae was a proud and dedicated mother to nine children.  She is survived by Lawrence Haxton, Jr. of Wellsville, Alysia Gardner of Belmont, Donna Gapa (Leslie) of South Carolina, Ralph E. Haxton of Wellsville; and daughter-in-law, Alice Haxton of Gainesville, NY. Ella Mae was a cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Charles, Rebecca, Thaddeus (Kasey), Kenny, Christopher, Nichole (Darren), Jennifer (Jesse), Ralph II, Lawrence III, Grace (Jeremiah), Chad, Scott, and granddaughter-in-law, Sue, who she touched with unconditional love and memories thru her life. She is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Ella Mae cherished spending time with her family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. In addition to her husband, she predeceased by two sons, Terry L. Haxton Sr. and Timothy Haxton; three daughters, Grace Haxton, Claudia Burns, and Marsha Coy; son-in-law, Chuck Gardner; daughter-in-law, Billy Haxton; grandson, Terry L. Haxton Jr.; and 16 siblings. 

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Johnson Cemetery, Wellsville.
