Eugene J. KUMP, 89, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Knoxville, died Thursday, May 7, 2026 in Country Terrace, Wellsboro. 

Born December 1, 1936, in Corning, NY, he was the son of Francis and Nellie Carpenter Kump. On June 14, 1958, in Westfield, he married Margaret A. “Peggy” Smith, who predeceased him on November 6, 2025. A graduate of Cowanesque Valley High School, he was employed by Ingersoll-Rand and Dresser-Rand in Painted Post, NY. 

Surviving are: three children, Michael Kump of Westfield, Timothy Kump of Towanda, and Lisa (Lance) Wattles of Wellsboro; son-in-law, John Brenner of Middlebury Center; three grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Hannah Davis, and Marisa Miles; three great-grandchildren, Theo Davis, Tessa Miles, and Henry Davis; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Lynda Brenner; and two siblings, George F. Kump and Eleanor Clark. 

Services will be private. Memorials may be made to any local animal shelter.
