Gary H. KURSCHNER, 72, of Allentown, NY, died Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in his home. 

Born August 24, 1953, in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Hermann Edward and Ellen Roth Kurschner, Jr. A 1971 graduate of Wellsville High School, he earned a degree in automotive mechanics from Alfred State College in 1973. He joined the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1977 - 1985. Gary held numerous jobs throughout the years and retired from Dresser-Rand after 11 years. Gary loved cars, racing stockcars for many years and restoring and building various cars. He was a Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan. Gary and his brother, Holgar, would travel to the MOPAR Nationals every year, totaling 34 trips. 

Surviving are: his companion, Lulu Myrick of Geneva; and a brother, Holgar (Kathleen) Kurschner of Wellsville. He was predeceased by his parents. 

A gathering to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on a later date. Memorials may be made to SPCA serving Allegany County or the David A. Howe Library, Wellsville.
