Obituary

Glee A. TURYBURY, 82, of Scio NY, died Saturday October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, NY. 

Born June 3, 1944, in Olean, he was the son of Floyd and Mary Margaret Kelley Turybury. A 1962 graduate of Scio Central School, he earned an associate’s degree in agriculture from Alfred State College. Glee proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1964 – 1968. On June 6, 1969, he married Janet E. Washburn, who survives. Glee was a hard worker. He owned and operated the family farm in Scio for over twenty years. He was proud to give back to his community and served on the Town Board and as Town Justice of Scio. Over the years, he enjoyed driving bus for Scio Central School and Allegany County. 

Surviving besides his wife, Janet, are: four children, Kelly Ann (Richard) Ferchen of Lorain, OH, Michele Lee Johnston of Wellsville, Tracy Lynn Fye of Mansfield, MA, and Steven James (Jennifer) Turybury of Wellsville; nine grandchildren, Caleb, Kylie, Daniel, Dylan, Aidan, Abbey, Payton, Evan and Makenzie; a great-granddaughter, Blake; a brother, Gary (Linda) Turybury of Wichita, KS; and several nieces and nephews. Glee was predeceased by his parents. 

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2026 in Knights Creek Church, 2987 County Road 9, Scio. Rev. Carl Kemp will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Wellsville American Legion Honor Guard. A private burial will be held in Bennetts Creek Cemetery, Greenwood.
