Harold E. WAIDE, 81, of Hornell, NY, formerly of Dansville and Wayland, passed peacefully into rest Saturday, June 21, 2025 in URMC Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born June 28, 1943, in East Liverpool, OH, he was the son of Truman Omer and Ada Mary Welch Waide. He was a 1962 graduate of East Liverpool High School in Ohio. He followed his love, Sharron Estel, to the Rochester, NY area and they were wed in 1968. He was employed as a quality control technician by Lightning Mixing Equipment in Avon and Rochester for over 23 years.
He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, attending lodge in Wayland for many years. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Harold had a life-long love of horses and had worked in the region as a farrier for a time after his retirement. He enjoyed playing music and often performed with his wife in church. He sat in with several bands over the years, primarily playing classic country and some bluegrass gospel. Harold was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing throughout his adult life. He loved being with his family and grandchildren, and was always willing to help a stranger, even to his own detriment.
Surviving are: a daughter, Loretta Haley of Rolla, MO; two sons, John (Arielle) Waide of Wellsville and Harold E. (Karen) Wade, Jr. of Genesee, PA; a sister, Yvonne (Rusty) Mehlenbacher of Dansville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sharron; two siblings, Don Pasco and Mildred McClane Howell; and a grandson, Raymond Waide.
A celebration of life for Harold, and a celebration of the reunion with his wife, Sharron, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025, on what would have been his 82nd birthday, at the Springwater Church of the Nazarene, 8498 Indian Valley Road, Springwater, NY 14560.
Memorials may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
