Helen Y. KOSA, 88, of Ulysses, PA, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in her home. Born November 7, 1924, in Galeton, PA, she was the daughter of David and Louise Welsh Yardlay. On April 14, 1944, in Coudersport, PA, she married Edward Kosa, who survives. A 1941 graduate of Coudersport High School, she was a partner and helpmate to her husband at EDKO Farms, where she served as the bookkeeper and "manager" of operations. She was employed as a secretary by the Potter County extension office and the Lloyd Kear Funeral Home in Ulysses. Helen served as a Potter County auditor from 1979 - 1995, member of a committee protecting the welfare of children in Potter County, and originator of the Progress Through Communications picnic. She was a longtime member of the Bible Union Church in West Bingham, PA, where she served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and church secretary. She was previously a member of the Ulysses First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and taught release time at the Ulysses elementary school. Surviving besides her husband, Ed, are: four sons, E. Gene (Nancy) Kosa, Douglas (Donna) Kosa, and Kurt (Laurel) Kosa, all of Ulysses, and Brian (Marianne) Kosa of Woodbridge, VA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Justin Kosa; a sister, Isabelle Gibson; and a brother, Rev. John David Yardlay. Friends may call Friday, March 1, 2013 from 2:00 -- 4:00 and 7:00 -- 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday in the Ulysses United Methodist Church. The Rev. David K. Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
