Horace D. "Lud" WHEELER, 85, of Harrison Valley, PA, died Friday, December 11, 2015 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA. Born April 8, 1930, in Harrison Valley, PA, he was the son of Horace and Bertha Stevens Wheeler. On January 21, 1949, in Winchester, VA, he married the former Juanita P. Thompson, who predeceased him in 1986. A Korean War Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Eberle Tannery in Westfield, Air Preheater in Wellsville, and Dresser-Rand in Wellsville. Surviving are: longtime companion, Jane Hilfiger; three sons, Daniel C. Wheeler, Thomas D. Wheeler, and Joel D. (Marcia) Wheeler, all of Harrison Valley; a daughter, Vicki (Garry) Abbott of Westfield; Jane's children, Patrick (Maria) Hilfiger of Ulysses, Paul (Cindy) Hilfiger of Mountain Home, PA, and Parry (Leona) Hilfiger of Harrison Valley; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Clara Swimley of Harrisonville, MO; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two grandsons, Cory L. Abbott and Joshua C. Wheeler; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wheeler; three brothers, Frank, William, and Guy; and three sisters, Zora Robbins, Sarah Wheeler, and Mildred Swackhammer. Friends may call Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Timothy H. Miller will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook. Memorials may be made to the C&MA Church, Harrison Valley, PA 16927 or the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Co., 112 E. Tannery St., Harrison Valley, PA 16927.
