Howard E. BAKER, 83, of Westfield, PA, died Friday, July 25, 2025 in UPMC Wellsboro.
Born July 19, 1942, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Erba and Ruth Hurler Baker. On December 1, 1962, in Brookfield, he married Brenda J. Porter, who survives. He was employed by Mapes Woodworking in Whitesville, Ingersoll-Rand in Painted Post, NY, and Consolidated Natural Gas for 28 years, retiring in 1997. Howard was a member of People’s Church of Potter Brook, Westfield Rod & Gun Club, Westfield Lodge No. 477 F & AM, and a life member of Crary Hose Volunteer Fire Co. He enjoyed carpentry work, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife, Brenda, are: two sons, Michael (Tammy) Baker and Patrick (Kay) Baker, both of Westfield; four grandchildren, Brittany Baker-Tuttle of Westfield, Brady Baker of Mansfield, Shirley Sproule of Mifflinburg, and Cody Baker serving with the U.S. Navy in Ballston Spa, NY; a great-granddaughter, Abree Tuttle; a sister, Eleanor Johnston of Whitesville, NY; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Carter. He was predeceased by four siblings, Ed Baker, Lyle Taft, Dorothy Lewis, and Erba O. Baker.
Friends may call at People’s Church of Potter Brook, 62 Rte. 49, Westfield on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Gene Jones, Pastor, will officiate.
