Irene D. JONES

Irene D. JONES, 91, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Wellsville, NY, died Sunday, May 11, 2025. 

Born November 3, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Oscar Harrison and Erma Blanche Saylor Davis. On December 26, 1959, in Johnstown, PA, she married David L. Jones, who predeceased her on September 5, 2011. A 1951 high school graduate in Pittsburgh, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Juniata College in 1955. While furthering her studies at Penn State University, she met her future husband, David, and they were married in 1959. Irene was a high school English teacher for many years. Once their children were born, Irene and David settled their family in Wellsville where she was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. Irene was a loving and caring person always putting her family first. She was a devoted Christian always reflecting her Savior in her life to those around her. 

Surviving are: a son, William David (Elizabeth) Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Susan Irene Jones; and a granddaughter, Lauren Jones. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters. 

Friends may call at J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsville on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Private burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
