Jack M. RISEWICK

Caneadea, NY

Jack M. RISEWICK, 87 of Caneadea, NY, died Friday, September 22, 2023 in the Hart Comfort House, surrounded by his family.

Born December 27, 1935, in Bloomsburg, PA, he was the son of John F. and Mae Bauman Risewick.  A graduate of Bloomsburg High School, Jack earned his Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Arts in Labor and Policy Studies from Empire State College in 2002.

Jack married Mary Wilson on April 28, 1960, in Oaklyn, NJ.

Jack was employed by ACF Industries and later Kodak in Rochester, NY where he worked as a manufacturing engineer for several years.  He transitioned into a career in Human Resources where he made a positive impact, providing counsel and work place resolutions to both employees and management throughout the plant.  He treated everyone with respect and was skilled at employee relations, retiring as Kodak’s Ombudsman.

Jack was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan, cheering on his Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and passed that love on to his children and grandchildren.  He also shared a love of music with his wife Mary.  Parishioners of Holy Ghost Church in Gates, NY, Jack and Mary led the folk group for several years and produced two albums.  Jack also wrote his own original music, including a song about the Old Bloomsburg Fair, a tribute to his hometown.

Jack was loved by all who met him.  A gifted storyteller with a wicked sense of humor, people were naturally attracted to him and especially loved his jokes.

His greatest roles were that of husband, father to his five children and Pop Pop to his 11 grandchildren.  He worked hard to provide his family with a happy home, security and the knowledge they were all loved dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of 63 years; his five children, Mike (Linda) Risewick of LeRoy, NY, Sharon (Ed) Canary of Greenwood Lake, NY, Dan (Janice) Risewick of North Chili, NY, Molly Risewick of Fort Worth, TX, and Steve (Sara) Risewick of Evansville, IN; and 11 grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Eric, Adam, Joe, Nick, Christina, Alli, Katie, CC, and Megan.  He was predeceased by his half-brother, Robert Bauman.

Friends may call at Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Road, Rochester, NY 14606 on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 11:00 – 12:00 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12:00 PM.  Father Steve Lape will be the Celebrant.  Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Gates, NY.
