James H. DAY

James H. DAY, 61, of Andover, NY, died Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. 

 

Born February 7, 1962, in North Hornell, he was the son of C. Harold and Janice L. Baldwin Day.  On May 9, 1987, he married the former Barbara Jean Bryan, who predeceased him on January 25, 2022.  Jim attended Andover High School.  He was employed by Skibeck Pipeline Construction, Wilkins RV, and L.C. Whitford as yard manager.  Jim enjoyed working, gardening, and being outdoors.  He cherished time with his grandchildren and loved his dog, Nellie.  He was a father to be admired for his patience and all-around great nature. 

 

Surviving are: three children, Matthew (Jamie Melnyk) Cornell of Canisteo, Rebecca (Tristan) Glasspoole of Angelica, and Cheyanne (Brad) Richardson of Andover; seven grandchildren, Destiny Empson, Ian Cornell, Paisley Cornell, Travis Glasspoole, Lane Richardson, Spencer Richardson and Norah Richardson; three sisters, Jeanne Day of Rochester, Joyce Day of Washington D.C., and Jayni Marie Day of Wellsville; nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Paluzzi. 

 

Friends may call at OLNEY-FOUST Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service following at 1:00 PM.  Rev. Jon Schink will officiate.  Burial will be in Valley Brook Cemetery, Andover. 

 

Cremation was at Olney-Foust Private Crematory.
