Jean A. RICHMOND, 90, of Wellsville, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. 

Born December 12, 1935, in Caneadea, she was the daughter of Tracey B. and Margaret Elizabeth Lang Kaufman. A graduate of Belfast Central School and Bryant and Stratton in Buffalo, “General Jean” retired from Air-Preheater after 45 years as a secretary to Ben Kelley and others throughout her career. 

Jean lived in Wellsville her entire adult life. Giving to numerous organizations was one of her passions, as well as collecting Beanie Babies and local history including Gabby Hayes. 

Surviving are: a sister, Kay Mary Bennett of Wellsville; multiple cousins spread across the country; and special friends, Eric Russo, Jason Marion, Sara Marion, Jude Marion, Gage Marion, and Darrin Coats. The family thanks you for your kindness to Jean in her later years. She was predeceased by her parents. 

Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast, next to her parents. Memorials may be made to any Allegany County historical society.
