John R. BRETH

John Roger BRETH, 74, of Scio, NY, formerly of Terre Hill, PA, died Saturday, September 6, 2025 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. 

Born March 23, 1951, in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of John Harvey and Lenore Mae Straw Breth. On August 12, 1978, in Lumber City, PA, he married Susan L. Hensley, who predeceased him on September 23, 2016. A graduate of Wheatland High School in Niagara Falls, he served honorably with the US Navy from 1971 - 1977. He owned and operated JR’s Garage in Bells Landing, PA and was employed in maintenance by Timet Morgantown. 

Surviving are: a son, John Allen (Tracy Newlin) Breth of St. Thomas, PA; a daughter, Sherrie Breth of Lancaster; six grandchildren, John A., Jr., Matthew, Samuel, Roger, Lillie, and Thalia; two great-grandchildren, Ivey and Aspen; three sisters, Karen (Jack) Edgell, Diana (Al) Folstorm, and Cathy Breth; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Gary B. Breth. 

Friends may call Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street, Wellsville. Military Rites will be accorded by member of the Wellsville American Legion Honor Guard at 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
