John T. "Jack" Koch, Sr., 89, of Hamburg, NY, former longtime Ulysses, PA funeral director, died Monday, November 9, 2015. Born May 16, 1926, he was the son of the late Homer W. and Ruth E. Wardecker Koch, Sr. He was married to the former Edna R. Blantz, who predeceased him in 1998. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably with the US Army Air Corps on an air crew of a B-24. Mr. Koch was a licensed funeral director in both New York and Pennsylvania. He owned and operated the Koch Funeral Home in Ulysses, PA for 25 years and served as Potter County Coroner for 17 years. In addition to the funeral home, he operated monument businesses in Wellsville, NY, Hornell, NY, and Ulysses, PA. In 1985, with his son, he purchased Stone Art Memorial Company, Inc., Lackawanna, NY. Mr. Koch was a member of St. Matthews UCC, West Seneca Lodge #1111 F&AM, Valley of Coudersport Consistory, Ismailia Shrine Center, Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Company, and the Coudersport American Legion. Surviving are: a son, Tom (Lisa) Koch; a daughter, Sherry (William) Scoville; a granddaughter, Trisha (Nicholas) Garra; three grandsons, Matthew T. (Stephanie) Koch, Michael T. Koch, and Tyler W. (Allana) Scoville; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew, William G. (Dianna) Koch. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Homer W. Koch, Jr. Friends may call at the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg Chapel, 5453 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg, NY on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 11:00 AM--1:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Walter S. Fleming will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Co., P.O.
