Josephine Mae MILES, 81, of Wellsville, NY, died Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in her home.

Born April 28, 1945, in Helena, MT, she was the daughter of George J. and Dora I. Grant Cozzie.

Josephine was married to Larry Edward Miles, who predeceased her on December 15, 1990.

A graduate of Helena High School in Montana, she was employed as a CNA at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport and at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She also served as a volunteer at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Surviving are: four children, Michael (Kimberly) Slawson of Wellsville, Elizabeth Johnson of Allentown, Esther Murphy of Wellsville, Timothy Slawson of Salem, VA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Cozzie and George Cozzie; nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lydia Ostrander, and two grandsons, Richard Murphy and Jonathon Slawson.

Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in Rathbone Cemetery, Oswayo, PA. Rev. Tony Palmer will officiate.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wellsville American Legion, Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue, Homecare & Hospice, or Northern Tier Children’s Home.
