Lawrence M. Brundage
PORT ALLEGANY- Lawrence M. Brundage, 85, of W. Ransom, St., passed away Friday (Apr. 8, 2022) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born December 27, 1936, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Harry L. and Marie Hopkins Brundage. On Dec. 26, 1970, in Austin, PA, he married Connie E. Meacham, who survives.
Larry was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1954.
He was employed with Ball-Incon Container Co., Port Allegany, as front- end supervisor, retiring on Jan. 1, 1998, after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the F. & A.M. Liberty Lodge 505, and Arnold Royal Arch Chapter 254, both of Port Allegany.
Lawrence was past governor, and member of the past Governor’s club, Moose Lodge 460, Port Allegany, and entered the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2015. He sponsored 133 new Moose members, and was a Trustee 2000-2001, Governor 2002-2006, Administrator from 2006-2012, and Treasurer of District T #8, from 2012-2019.
Larry was also active and life member with the Port Allegany Star Hose, Co. where he served as Fire Chief 1977-1983. He was a member of Tri-County Fire Chiefs Assoc. from 1977-1983, and served on staff with the Tri-County Fire School.
Mr. Brundage also coached Babe Ruth Baseball from 1969-1977, and was President of McKean County Babe Ruth Baseball from 1970-77.
He was also a former member of the Port Allegany Lions Club., and social member of the American Legion John Berg Post 887, Port Allegany.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Connie, is a son, Lawren D. “Whitey” (Sally) Brundage of Port Allegany, three daughters, Robin Formoso and Amy (Joe) Shelley both of Port Allegany, and Tammy L. (Craig) Emerson of Hampton, VA; a stepson, Ronald Rees of Smethport; a stepdaughter, Kim VanHorn of Hampton, VA; 12 grandchilldren, 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margarie Hults of Port Allegany, Anita Corwin of Tennesse; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jackie Light.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Apr. 11, 2022) with Rev. Roger Laktash, officiating. Burial will be in Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights, PA.
A Moose service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday by Moose Lodge 505, Port Allegany.
A masonic service will be conducted by Liberty Lodge 505, Port Allegany, Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
