Leonard D. ORDWAY, 68, of Whitesville, NY, died Saturday, April 26, 2025 in his home.
Born June 9, 1956, in Wellsville, he was the son of Leon J. and Ethel M. Tracy Ordway. On June 16, 1975, in Scio, he married the former Karen M. Ryan, who survives. A graduate of Whitesville Central School, he and his wife owned and operated Herbert Cooper Co. in Genesee, PA. He loved music and playing guitar. Leonard played in several area bands, beginning with the Knight Riders. His Gibson J45 and 1963 Fender reissue custom shop telecaster were prized possessions. He babied his classic Mustang and immensely enjoyed his Ford F-150 truck. Leonard was especially generous and always willing to lend a helping hand. A man of integrity, he strived to be just and fair. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife of over 49 years, Karen, are: two sons, Brian L. (Stacy) Ordway of Wellsville and Daniel R. Ordway of Whitesville; his unofficially adopted son, Albert Hazzard; four grandchildren, Trey Sallazzo, Ashley Ordway, Marissa Ordway, and Dylen Ordway; three brothers, Douglas E. (Theresa) Tracy of Wellsboro, PA, Richie L. (Annie) Ordway of Stannards, NY, and Rickie L. (Holly) Ordway of Whitesville; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Leon J. “Jack” Ordway, Jr.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 6:00 PM. Rev. Dennis Munro will officiate.
Burial will be in North Bingham Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate Leonard’s life will be held on a later date.
