Obituary

Linda L. KARNS, 78, of Wellsville, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 28, 2026 in her home surrounded by her loving family. In her final months, she faced each day with grace, strength, laughter, and unwavering hope. Her fiery, humorous spirit was a beacon to everyone around her, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born May 13, 1947, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Leo F. and Mary Kathryn “Kay” Puffinburger Peet. On September 24, 1966, in Wellsville, she married James H. Karns, who survives. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage, raising two daughters, welcoming three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and building a life filled with devotion, adventure, and tradition. She was a 1966 graduate of Wellsville High School. Linda played an instrumental role in helping build the family business, Karns Bike Shop, where families from surrounding counties enjoyed riding Schwinn and Takara bicycles. She and Jim also supported local children in motocross bike races in Zoar Valley, creating memories and community connections that lasted generations. Their life together was rich with traditions—attending Catholic Mass every Sunday, enjoying Friday night dinners, exploring antique stores, and watching deer and bluebirds in their backyard. Every moment shared was an adventure. Linda's greatest joy came from her family. She loved watching her daughters compete in barrel racing and never missed a chance to cheer on her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was their biggest fan, always present, always proud. Her deep love for animals led her to spend many years raising Shih Tzus, and she treasured her time shopping with her girlfriends and daughters, creating laughter-filled memories along the way.

Surviving besides her husband, James, are: two daughters, Sherry (Todd) Fisher and Tara (James) Fisher, both of Wellsville; two granddaughters, Brittany Mesler and Brianna Fisher; a grandson, Justin Fisher; a great-grandson, Callen Reed; a brother, James (Dalaine) Peet of Wellsville; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, John Peet and Gerald D. Peet. Linda's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Friends may call Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville, NY, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Stannards Cemetery.
