Linda A. SNYDER, 79, of Friendship, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2026, in her home surrounded by her family.
Born November 7, 1946, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Wayne and Virginia E. Bassett Carpenter. She was married to Harold L. Snyder, who predeceased her in 1993.
A graduate of Belmont Central School and Continental Beauty School in Olean, she worked as a beautician and owned and operated a restaurant in Rushford. Beginning in 1968, she was employed as a waitress at The Texas Hot, retiring after 52 years. She was a member of the Wellsville Women’s Bowling League, Whitesville Ladies Auxiliary, Wellsville Moose, Wellsville VFW, and a life member of the Scio Rod & Gun Club. Linda was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed snowbirding in Zephyrhills, FL. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, and never missed a family function.
Surviving are: five daughters, Julie (Bill) Hadsell of Friendship, Sara Garrison of Richmond, VA, Betsy (Shane) Wheaton of Kentucky, Becky (Jerry) Feathers of Florida, and Sue Smalt of Bath; three sons, Herbert Spicer of Bolivar, Wes “Spike” Snyder of Olean, and David Snyder of NY; 38 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; an aunt, Marge Dean of Belmont; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Harold, she was predeceased by a daughter, Susie Spicer; three sons, Terry Brooks, Dickie Spicer, Thomas Spicer; step-father, Glen Cummins; a granddaughter, Valerie Garrison; a great-grandson, Wesley Roebuck; a sister, Kay Baker; three sons-in-law, Ed Ueblacker, Gary Garrison, and Jeff Smalt; her former husband, Dick Spicer; and special partner, Allen Wood.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State St., Wellsville on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 4:00 PM. Rev. Dennis Munro will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
