PORT ALLEGANY- L. Ray Manning, 85, formerly of E. Mill St. passed away Thursday (Apr. 26, 2018) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born September 10, 1932, in Farmington Township, Tioga County, PA, he was a son of Robert D. and Evelyn Sticklin Manning.  On Oct. 16, 1954, in Nelson, PA, he married E. Lorraine Manley, who died Oct. 11, 2015.  They were married 60 years.
Ray was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Williamson High School, class of 1950, Tioga PA.
He worked with North Penn Gas Co. of Port Allegany, as a gas controller, retiring with 40 years of service.
Mr. Manning was also a veteran having served with the US Army from 1954-56, during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church, Roulette, Liberty Lodge 505, F.& A.M., Port Allegany, Coudersport Consistory, member of the Civil Air Patrol, Potter County Historical Society, former assistant Boy Scout Leader, Roulette, WWII aircraft historian, and built WWII model aircraft & ships which were donated to WWII War Museum, Eldred, PA.  He was a leather craftsman and an avid stamp collector & photographer.
Surviving are two sons, Terry R. (Debbie) Manning of Harrisburg, PA, Thomas L. (Wendy) Manning of Port Allegany; a daughter, Cheryl K. (Michael) Nasto of Port Allegany; 6 grandchildren:  Kate (Steve) Lukiewski and Emily (Jeffrey Timlin) Manning, Stephen and Jacob Manning, Thomas (Erin) Nasto and Alyssa Nasto; 3 great-grandchildren: Brodie and Bentley Manning, and Declan Nasto; two sisters, Phyllis Hurlburt of Wellsboro, Elizabeth Kinsman of Painted Post, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, and a sister, Mary Lou Hatfield.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Apr. 30, 2018) with Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, Port Allegany, and Rev. Randall Headley, co-officiating.  Burial will be in Hill Cemetery, Roulette.
A masonic service will be conducted by Liberty Lodge 505, Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard, immediately following the funeral service.
Memorials can be made to the WWII War museum or a charity of the donor’s choice.
