Marilyn J. Anderson
PORT ALLEGANY- Marilyn J. Anderson, 89, of Skinner Creek Rd., passed away Saturday (May 1, 2021) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born January 10, 1932, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of William Lyon and Kathryn Miller Press. On July 20, 1957, in Shinglehouse, she married James L. Anderson, who died Aug. 2, 2005.
Marilyn was longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, class of 1950 and Mansfield State College with a BS in Chemistry Education.
She was employed with the Port Allegany School District as a secondary science teacher for many years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, PSERS (Pennsylvania State Education Retirement System), Red Hat Society-Port Allegany chapter, and former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Phoenix Chapter, Port Allegany.
Surviving are two sons, James L. (Pamela) Anderson and Joel L. (Dannielle) Anderson both of Port Allegany; and three grandchildren: Ashley Anderson and Jacob Anderson both of Port Allegany, and Kaitlyn (Casey) Bright of Syacuse, NY; and a nephew, William (Bonnie) Anderson of Port Allegany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, James.
There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
