Mary Catherine BRADSTREET, 90, of Andover, NY, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. She spent her last five years living with Anne and Terry McCormick in Andover and was a very integral part of their family life.
Born September 8, 1935, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of Gerald J. and Fredericka B. “Fritzi” Casey. A graduate of Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA, she earned a BA in Education from Marywood College in 1957.
On December 28, 1957, she married Aurther James “Jim” Bradstreet, who predeceased her on July 4, 2009. Together they had eight children. Jim and Mary met in first grade and grew up together in Susquehanna, PA. They moved over 21 times with their family and enjoyed camping, trips to Laurel Lake, and making sure their children had wonderful family memories. Mary built a legacy rooted in love and resilience. While Mary taught in many schools across the country, she absolutely loved teaching in Whitesville, NY and spoke of this often.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Bradstreet; a son, John Joseph Bradstreet; and a brother, John Casey.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Art (Nancy) Bradstreet, Tom (Chiara) Bradstreet, Anne (Terry) McCormick, Paul (Kim) Bradstreet, David (Heather) Bradstreet, and Ellen Bradstreet (Patrick Willdigg); grandchildren, Amanda Bradstreet, Nathan Bradstreet, Christopher (Kaitlyn)McCormick, Keegan McCormick, Alex (Kelsey) Bradstreet, Mikela Bradstreet, Kaiden McCormick, and Jack Bradstreet; great-grandchildren, McKenzie McCormick, Kellin McCormick, Tove Bradstreet, and Clover Bradstreet; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Casey; a half-sister, Cathy (John) Fauss; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary’s family would like to thank the members of TL Care, Willcare and the healthcare team at St. James Hospital over these last few months. You made a difference in her quality of life. Her role as mother was central to her life and she thanks the Order of Immaculate Heart of Mary (I.H.M.) for her personal strength, strong abiding and unwavering faith.
She leaves behind a family that carries forward her memory with deep affection. She was one of a kind and will be missed beyond measure. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Mary’s quote to take with you, “Make sure you dance when the music is playing!”
