Milton C. NEWCOMB

Milton C. NEWCOMB, 95, of Ulysses, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, November 1, 2021 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, NY.

Born November 5, 1925, in Galeton, PA, he was the son of Henry and Mary Smith Newcomb.  A World War II Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre.

On July 3, 1947, in Galeton, he married the former Geraldine Henry, who predeceased him on July 15, 1979.  On September 28, 1985, in Ulysses, he married the former Zadie L. Parmelee Travis, who predeceased him on November 2, 1999.  On September 20, 2002, in Ulysses, he married the former Millicent Patterson Mitchell, who survives.

He was employed by Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, NY for many years.  Milt was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses, Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Department in Ulysses, and Lewisville Lodge #556 F&AM in Ulysses.  Milt was a well-known fiddle player, playing in several local bands and once with Bob Dylan’s band.  He touched many people’s lives with his music and personality.

Surviving besides his wife, Millie, are:  a daughter, Gretchen (Greg) Jones of Harrison Valley, PA;  a daughter-in-law, Marcia Newcomb of Sabinsville;  three grandchildren, Thomas H. Newcomb, Daniel B. Newcomb, and Jeramy G. Jones;  seven great- grandchildren;  step-children, Rosie Chambers, Terry Mitchell, Patricia Wimbrow, Paula Darnley, Harold (Cathy) Mitchell, and Patsy Cavallaro;  and nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Bruce M. Newcomb;  a granddaughter, Rachael Jones;  four brothers, Clarence, Earl, Lester, and Leon; and four sisters, Iva Newcomb, Helena Pelchy, Lula Price, and Eva Hurd.

A private service will be held at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA.  David Chambers will officiate.  Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.  Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
