Muriel J. DURGAN, 82, of Wellsville, NY, died Thursday, May 7, 2026, in F.F. Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua. 

Born September 18, 1943, in Olean, she was the daughter of Richard and Anna Cooper Olmstead. Muriel was a graduate of Bolivar High School. She was married to Edwin J. Durgan, who predeceased her in 1996. Muriel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. 

Surviving are: six children, Tina (Dale) Barnett of Wellsville, Kim (Paul) Oien of North Carolina, Chris George of Calcium, Bruce (Beth) Durgan of Kane, PA, Steve (Heather) Durgan of Michigan, and Jonathan Durgan of Wellsville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Olmstead of Olean; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three children, Edwin Durgan, Jr., Cindy Durgan, and Patricia Lynn Durgan; a grandson, Zachary J. Barnett; and two brothers, Fred Olmstead and Richard Olmstead. 

A gathering to celebrate Muriel’s life will be held on a later date. Burial will be in Canaseraga Cemetery. Memorials in Muriel’s memory can be made to the family.
