Naomi L. HANES, 91, of Sunderlinville, PA, died Sunday, June 15, 2025 in UPMC Wellsboro.
Born August 3, 1933, in Potter County, she was the daughter of Edward E. and Nina Gigee Johnson. On June 5, 1951, in Sunderlinville, she married Herbert L. Hanes, who predeceased her on September 28, 2017. She was employed by Galeton Production, Vargeson’s Restaurant in Westfield, and the Northern Tier Children’s Home in Harrison Valley. Naomi was a member of the Sunderlinville Baptist Church and the Galeton Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds.
Surviving are: six children, Rosemary (C. Earl) Kinter of Middlebury Center, Wilma (Larry) Riley of Elmira, NY, Betty (Bob) Schurer of Oval, Stuart Hanes of Scottsville, VA, Sandra (Sam) Fay of Lawrenceville, and Ronald (Deborah) Hanes of Tioga; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley J. Muncaster of Lugoff, SC; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Herbert Hanes; a grandson, Nathan Hanes; and a brother, Carroll Johnson.
Friends may call at the Harrison Valley Christian & Missionary Alliance Church on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, with Funeral Services at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dorothy Densmore will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook.
