Newell J. Potter Jr., 95, of 10 Putzman Avenue went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born June 13, 1915 in Wellsville, the son of Newell J. and Emeretta (Finch) Potter Sr. He first married Helen Marsh, who predeceased him in 1981. He later married Betty J. (Atherton) Marsh who survives.
Newell was a long time employee of Worthington Corporation in Wellsville; retiring in 1977. He enjoyed restoring cars to Street Rods.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mary (Fred) Gates of Scio and Donna E. Dixon of Wellsville, 6 grandchildren, James (Mary) Kocher of Morganville, NJ, Kevin (Robin) Kocher of Fredericksburg, VA, Lynda (Ron) Bennett of Montrose, WV, Newell (Jen) Kocher of Phoenix, AZ, Lynn (Connie) Dixon of Wellsville and Helen (Joel) Evans of Angelica, several deeply loved great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, including, Lynn T. (Erna) Davis of Winter Haven, FL and a special friend, James Kocher Sr. of Ulysses, PA
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Elder Terry Smith and Elder Richard Warriner presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.
