Raymond Charles ERWAY, 17, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2022. Raymond was born on June 9, 2004, to parents Charles Wayne and Michele Lynette Freeman Erway.

As a member of Headwaters FFA Raymond received his Discovery Degree, Greenhand Degree, Chapter Farmer Degree and was set to receive his Keystone Degree in January 2023. Ray enjoyed attending the National FFA Conventions especially the year he was able to attend the Garth Brooks concert and participate in the go-cart racing. Ray was an active member of both the Elm Valley Harvester and the Furry Friends 4-H clubs with projects including goats, rabbits, and chickens. He enjoyed showing his animals at the Allegany and Potter County Fairs each summer and had the honor of competing at the New York State Fair many times. Raymond was a two-year member of the Black Forest Falcon Trap Team and a member of the Wellsville Moose Teen Club, participating in the NYS Moose Convention and attended the International Moose Convention in his lifetime.
Raymond was a kind person who loved life, agriculture, his family, and his girlfriend Krysta. He was widely known as the mechanic of the family, often rebuilding machinery just to understand how it worked and to make it go faster. His hot rod lawn mower was a big hit any time he fired it up. He was looking forward to purchasing a 3rd Generation Cummins truck soon and loved to talk to his brother, Clifton, about the latest projects he was working on. Many days you would find Raymond helping his Grandpa Wayne with whatever farm task needed to be completed or making sure his vegetable garden was well tended. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He had a deep love for International Harvester Tractors and was never without his IH hat. He enjoyed spending hot summer days at his Aunt Judy’s Pond with his brothers and friends.
Raymond is survived by his parents, Charles and Michele of Genesee; a brother, Clifton Erway of Lima, OH; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Janet Erway of Genesee; maternal grandparents, Rick and Angela Freeman of Wellsville; great-grandmother, June Freeman of Andover; paternal aunts, Susan (Greg) Raylea, Marie (Steve) Ackley, and Judy (Phil) May; maternal aunts, Becky (Danielle) Freeman-Brauen and Amy (Marc) Roulo; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends who loved him.
