Richard H. EWELL, 92, of Wellsville, NY, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Born December 13, 1933, in Saratoga, he was the son of Maynard and Gertrude McKibben Ewell. On September 13, 1957, he married Sarajean “Sally” Lippert Ewell, which was the best thing that ever happened to him.
A graduate of Saratoga High School, he attended Alfred University where he played football. He also served honorably with the U.S. Army. Dick often shared fond memories and stories about growing up in Saratoga.
Dick was employed by Loohns Cleaners, Atlantic Refining Company, and General Motors, before purchasing Wellsville Auto Parts in 1970. After the sale of Wellsville Auto, he worked for the NYS Automotive Wholesalers Association and Harris Supply. Dick and Sally retired to Florida where they lived in Avon Park and Sebring for many years making more memories with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his son, Rich (Gabrielle Hart) Ewell; his daughter, Cynthia (Thomas) Hart; grandchildren, Emily (Landon) Shupe, Rich (Lydia) Ewell, Brady (Amy) Hart, Brook (Caitlin) Hart, and Meghan Hart; great grandchildren, Hayes Shupe, Thomas “TJ” Hart, Riley Hart, and James Hart; sisters-in-law, Sue Palmer and Barb Ewell; nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Kevin Harris. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Sally; brother, Bob; and brother-in-law, Ed Palmer. The family would like to thank the Manor Hills and Highland Park staff for many years of wonderful care and friendship.
There will be a private ceremony on a later date. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
Dick was also very patriotic. Memorials may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers at T2T.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State St., Wellsville, NY. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wellsvillefuneralhome.com.
