Richard L. “Dick” LYNCH, was born on June 27, 1931 in Hornell, NY and passed away on June 27, 2026 on his 95th birthday in Hamburg, NY surrounded by family.
Dick grew up on the family farm in Andover, NY and graduated from Andover Central School in 1949 where his strong love of family, faith, math, music and sports was developed. Dick played baseball, soccer, basketball and of course, golf. He was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills and Orlando Magic. He had hoped for a championship for both teams in his lifetime.
After graduation, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked as a weather observer. He was stationed in Illinois, Alaska and Maryland. On October 31, 1953, in Aberdeen, MD, he married Maureen Crichton. Upon discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1954, Dick began a long career that was varied but always finance related - collections, banking, consumer credit, investments and automobile financing. He retired in 1984 from his position as Senior Vice President and Board member of the former First Trust Union Bank in Wellsville, NY.
Together, Dick and Maureen lived and enjoyed a full life, raised their five daughters, spent time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, golfed and ate dinner out whenever they could and enjoyed their many homes in western NY and in central Florida. Dick made sure that every Saturday night he and Maureen went to Mass and then out for dinner. He was hard working, intelligent, and genuinely liked people and finding out about their lives with direct questions. Dick always lent a helping hand and believed in pride of ownership and was always working to maintain / improve the family home. It was often stated that a family would be fortunate to purchase one of Dick Lynch’s homes.
Dick will be missed by his daughters and their families, Jeanne Flanigan (Jim), Maureen Daniels (Ray Pannone), Kathleen Lynch (Martin Lydell), Ann Lynch (Joe Breindel) and Marianne Eiermann (John); grandchildren: Katie and Jenny Flanigan, Heather and Paul (PJ) Daniels (Nichole), Amanda Merlin (Jared), Jeanne Fralick, Peyton Fullam, Timothy Fullam (Jenah), AnnaRose Krone, Kenny and Lillian Eiermann; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Siddalee Daniels, Caleb, Elliette, Sawyer and Owen Fralick, Aiden Nugent, Lylah and Charlotte Fullam; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Rose Manley Lynch; brothers, George, John and Daniel (twin); and sisters, Rosemary, Cecelia Dugan (Bill), Jean and Margaret. Sally (John) Lynch passed away June 29, 2026. Special thanks is extended to Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo from the family. Their care and compassion are appreciated.
