Robert E. BISHOP, 76, of Andover, NY, died Friday, August 8, 2025 in UR Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, surrounded by his family.
Born November 1, 1948, in Wellsville, he was the son of Cornelius Barney and Evelyn Picard Bishop. On August 28, 1976, in Wellsville, he married Linda D. Cole, who predeceased him on August 16, 1997. He attended Portville Central School and served honorably with the U.S. Navy from 1967 – 1970 during the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Hank. A hard worker, Bob was employed by Certified Traffic Control in Andover and owned and operated REB's Pilot Car Service. He was a member of Frank B. Church VFW Post #2530, Morrison Hayes American Legion Post #702, and the NRA. Bob loved hunting, fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are: three daughters, Katrina (Paul) Driskel of Wellsville, Alisha (Matthew) Eck of Hazel Hurst, PA, and Jacqueline (Stan Hunt) Jerla of Chili; a son, Daniel (Judit) Bishop of Budapest, Hungary; eight grandchildren, Avery, Isaac, Clairissa, Robert III, Corey, Annastasia, Hailey, and Jonathon; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Robert Bishop, Jr. and Steven A. Bishop; and five siblings, Mary, Carol, John, James, and Richard.
Friends may call at J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 W. State Street, Wellsville on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with a time of sharing and military rites following at 4:00 PM.
