Wellsville, NY - Robert E. Johnson Sr., 86, of 3249 Wightman Road passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Jones Memorial Hospital with family at his side. He was born March 31, 1933 in Charlottesville, VA, the son of the late Joseph Thomas and Martha E. (Powell) Johnson. On April 18, 1953 in Charlottesville he married Ann “Irene” Hurlburt who survives.
“Bob” was raised in Charlottesville, and moved to Wellsville in 1965. He was employed by Alfred Atlas for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was a life member of the Frank B. Church Post 2530 VFW in Wellsville. He raced stock cars at Drum Raceway and Woodhull Raceway. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert E. Johnson Jr. and Ronald O'Neil (Laurie) Johnson both of Wellsville, two daughters, Rebecca (Kevin) Greek of Clymer, PA, and Rosa M. Norman of Wellsville, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a sister, Thelma (Robert) Dunvivan of Lemon Spring, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a infant son, Eugene Allen Johnson, three brothers, and three sisters.
