Robert Jenks
PICKUP
Nov 13, 1949 — Jul 3, 2026
Gulfport, FL
Robert Jenks PICKUP, 76, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026 in St Petersburg, Florida surrounded by his loved ones. Everyone that knew him knew him as “Bob” and he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will be cherished by all who were close to him. Bob was born on November 13, 1949, in the idyllic western New York town of Wellsville. He loved his home town and loved visiting it long after he moved away - first stop always being the iconic Texas Hot for a coney (or 2). He left New York and attended the University of Oklahoma, thus beginning a life long love for the university. During his college years, Bob became a proud member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at OU. The friendships he built there lasted a lifetime, and many of his “Deke” brothers remained among his closest friends throughout the years. Bob had a long and successful career as an operations manager for several companies. He was known as a dedicated hard worker whose people skills translated well in the business world.
Bob was a proud and loving grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. They loved visiting him and Linda in Gulfport, Florida, where they made a home for over 20 years. Countless memories were made together enjoying the sunshine, relaxing on the beach, and sharing meals at one of their favorite places, O’Maddy’s in Gulfport overlooking Boca Ciega Bay. Bob was a devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, Buffalo Bills, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Watching football with Linda was one of his favorite pastimes. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved cats, taking great pride in caring for them and loving them as part of the family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Linda Ellen (Greer) Pickup. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dana R. Pickup and Elizabeth Jenks Pickup; his brother, Dana Roland Pickup Jr.; his beloved parents-in-law, John (GG'pa G) and Naomi Greer, whom he loved dearly; and his brother-in-law, Scott Greer, with whom he and Linda shared a very close and special relationship.
He leaves behind his four loving children and four grandchildren: Rob Pickup, his wife Rhonda and their daughter Raelynn of Thornton, Colorado ; Barbara (Pickup) Dallegge and her husband, Todd, of Estes Park, Colorado; Katie (Pickup) Plassmeyer, her husband, Curt, and their daughters, Ava and Addie of Laramie, Wyoming and Juliann Marie (Pickup) Berg, her husband, Matt, and their son, Milo of Lynden, Washington.
He also shared a close and loving bond with his nieces and nephew in North Carolina : Lance Pickup, Shannon (Pickup) Leonida and Danielle (Pickup) Quiocho, along with his brother Dana's wife Patti Pickup of nearby Venice, Florida. He cherished time spent with them and their families and we are so thankful for their inclusion, love and connection through the years.
Throughout his life, he was known for his warm heart, infectious smile, and outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His love for people, his sense of humor, and his joyful spirit made him someone others naturally gravitated toward. Bob’s greatest gift was the love he shared so freely. Whether through his warm smile, a heartfelt conversation, or one of his signature whiskey sours, he left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Bob’s passing came somewhat unexpectedly, and in the days that followed, the family made the decision that the best choice was for his wife Linda to move to Colorado to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She is currently at an assisted living center in Thornton, Colorado - a couple short miles from step son Rob's home. As the family navigates this transition, arrangements for a celebration of Bob’s life have not yet been finalized. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, the family anticipates holding a Celebration of Life next summer in Wellsville, New York, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor his life. Details will be announced once they are available.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in the countless memories Bob gave us and the love he leaves behind. His legacy lives on through his family, his friends, and all those whose lives were brighter because he was a part of them.
Arrangements are entrusted to Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, Wellsville, NY. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wellsvillefuneralhome.com.
