Roy was raised in Wellsville and was a 1976 graduate of Belmont High School. He continued his education at SUNY Corning , where he pursued his funeral directing license. Once licensed, he worked for some time in Corning at a Mortician, until he returned to Wellsville to focus on his health. Outside of his career, he liked to hunt, attended every church’s Chinese auction, loved his guitars, music, and movies.
He is survived by: siblings, Howard (Bev) Costley of Connecticut and Clarence (Darla Sherwood) Miles of Wellsville; sister-in-law, Kay Costley of Florida; step-siblings; a special great-nephew, Denton Sherwood; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather , Hilda and Jesse Reese, father, Howard Costley, and brother Roger Costley.
