Ruth Eva Cicirello, 92, of 147 Stevens Street passed away at home on Friday, April 8, 2011. She was born September 2, 1918 in Galeton, PA the daughter of the late Truman and Dora Mae (Lowe) Mathern. On February 2, 1935 in Alfred she married Anthony (Boots) Cicirello who predeceased on March 31, 1975.
Ruth was the dispatcher for the Allegany County Rescue Squad from 1960 until they merged with the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps in 1970. She was the dispatcher for the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps from 1970 until the time of her death. She also operated Boot's Tackle and Candy Shop until 1984.
She is survived by one son, James (Sue) Cicirello, a daughter-in-law, Judy Cicirello, a sister-in-law, Corrine Mathern all of Wellsville, four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-grandson and a dear friend, Kathy Nash of Wellsville. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Lewis Cicirello and a brother, James Mathern.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Robert Morris presiding. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
