Shannon E. SHROYER

July 15, 1969 — September 22, 2023

Eldred, PA

Shannon Eugene SHROYER, 54, of Eldred, PA, went home peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Buffalo, NY.  Born July 15, 1969, in Somerset, Shannon was a devoted Christian, father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend to all.

After graduating The Limestone (NY) Union Free School in 1988, he found his niche to be in carpentry and homebuilding over the next 30 years where he was talented in all things ‘home repair.’  Having a knack for mechanics, Shannon was always seen learning how things work, what may need replacing, and finding a better way to complete a job.  There was no job where Shannon was outmatched, especially with the good help of ambitious sons.

His loving daughter, Hannah, introduced him to the world of cats and Shannon helped raise countless litters of cats, with one little, black cat holding a special place in his heart, Tabby. Shannon was always willing to foster any animal his children brought into the house, including: Vinny the goat, Gracie the fawn, and Bucky the squirrel.

Preaching the word of God, coin collecting, antique picking, fishing, hunting, fixing bicycles, and eating ice cream were just a few things Shannon enjoyed where he found the most peace.  There was seldom a conversation where the love of Christ was excluded and sharing God’s promises of hope and love was Shannon’s ultimate calling; most notable in 2004 through a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, where he helped minister to the people and build membership for the newly constructed church.  Shannon was a member of The Country Chapel Baptist Church in Eldred, PA.  The word of Christ paired with these hobbies was not only important to Shannon, but he taught his children all he knew about them in hopes they continue to enjoy them and trust The Lord with all their hearts.

Shannon was greeted in Heaven by his mother, Yvonne Washko-Adams, and will live in the comfort of The Lord, surrounded by those who went before him.

Shannon is survived by his wife, Vivian Shroyer of Eldred; children, Angela (Patrick) Beckwith of Erie, Brian (Jamie) Wixson of Bradford, Justin Wixson of Lewistown; Nathanael Shroyer of Eldred, Johnathon Shroyer of Bradford, and Hannah (Samuel) Kysor of Port Allegany; siblings, Raquel Frank of Bradford, Buck Shroyer of Ridgway, and Larry Shroyer Jr. of Bradford; father, Larry Shroyer Sr. of NC; and ten grandchildren.

The family will hold a private ceremony. Memorials may be made to The Country Chapel Baptist Church, 109 Indian Creek Rd., Eldred, PA 16731.

Arrangements are under the direction of Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA.  Cremation was at Olney-Foust Private Crematory.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.olneyfoust.com.
