Sharon L. Barnett, 76, of Independence, died on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Jones Memorial Hospital of Wellsville. She was born November 2, 1948, in Mansfield, OH, the adopted daughter of her Uncle Paul and Aunt Mable Henry. On August 2, 1969, in Sunbury, OH, she married John “Crazy Jack” Barnett, who survives.
Sharon was raised in Sunbury, having spent some of her childhood in Texas. After her high school graduation, she continued her education at Marion College of Marion, Indiana – where she met her future husband. She found her career with Allegany County Department of Social Servies, from where she retired. Outside of work she was a member of the Brookside Wesleyan Church, and the Christian Union Church of Christ, both of Wellsville. While at Brookside, she and her husband ran the Youth Group. She had a robust sense of humor and loved to sing – having been an All State of Ohio singer in High School, and part of several choruses as an adult; whether at church or at home, she was singing. She adored living in the countryside, and all the interactions with wildlife that would entail; domesticated or wild – she connected with the animals. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, Crazy Jack, she is survived by: two daughters, Alissa (Pat Krieger) Barnett of Whitesville and Corinne (John Clark) Barnett of Cuba; four grandchildren, Brooke (Justin) Greenman of Freedom, Britney (Zach Bray) Thornton of Freedom, Skylar Totten of Andover and Darien Totten of Iowa; 2.5 great-grandchildren, Allison and Lakin, and one brewing.
In addition to her raised parents, Paul and Mabel, she was predeceased by: her biological parents, a brother, and a sister.
