Born October 30, 1949, in Reading, she was the daughter of Robert A. and Dorris M. In 1970, Sherry was awarded the Carl Schurz Foundation Scholarship to study in West Germany.  She began her teaching career at Athens Area High School in 1971, where she taught German and world geography. They began their married life in Sayre, PA, but shortly thereafter moved to Whitesville NY, where they lived upstairs over Don Kelley's on Maple Street. During that time, Sherry worked for her long-time friends, Max and Gloria Shay, at Shay’s Red & White in Whitesville.  Sherry and her husband, along with other members of the Corneby family, were partners in Whitesville Wood Products.  In 1981, Sherry and Norris moved to Genesee, PA.  She began her teaching career at Whitesville Central School in 1985 when she was hired to be a long-term substitute for Carole O’Hagan in the high school English department. Upon Mrs. O'Hagan’s return, Sherry was moved to the elementary school where she would teach 5th grade and reading until her retirement in 2012. Sherry was a beloved and dedicated teacher at Whitesville for 27 years.  She attended Gold Church and was a woman of faith.  A staunch Republican, she was always open for a debate concerning politics and was an avid viewer of Fox News.
