V. Ilene NICKERSON McDOWELL, 93, of Scio, NY, died Monday, February 23, 2026 in her home. 

Born December 30, 1932, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Richard and Virginia Barhight Jacobs. On January 5, 1951, in Scio, she married Glenn W. Nickerson, who predeceased her on January 31, 2003. A graduate of Scio High School, she was employed by Bausch & Lomb in Wellsville, the Glove Factory in Wellsville, and ran the family farm, Nickerson Farms. 

Surviving are: three sons, Daniel (Sue) Nickerson of Scio, Glenn W. “Skip” (Roxy) Nickerson, Jr. of Scio, and Paul (Kristin) Nickerson of Scio; a daughter, Patricia (William) Yanda of Wayland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Glenn, she was predeceased by her second husband, Roger McDowell; a sister, Elizabeth Walker; and a brother, Robert Dean Jacobs. 

Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio.
